Importance of Consumer Courts – File a Complaint with Consumer C

Consumer court is a kind of legal structure formed for the protection of consumer rights. Anyone who feels cheated by a product seller or has been a victim of unfair trade practice can file a complaint in consumer court for fair judgment ensuring their rights are protected. Consumer court does not work for an individual sector or field, it is for every sector and a consumer having complaint related to products or services of a firm can file a complaint against a fraudulent firm in the nearest consumer court.

A consumer court was established under the Consumer Protection Act of 1986 which was formed with a motive to spread awareness about consumer rights in India and to ensure the protection of rights and interests of consumers against the unethical and unfair trade practices. This is a civil body that hears to the grievances of the consumers and delivers fair judgment without any court charge or process fee. Added to this there are three levels of these courts – national level consumer court, state level court and district level court. Therefore if an individual is not satisfied with judgment at a subordinate level can further move up the case to the higher levels of courts. For example, if an individual does not get a fair judgment in district level consumer court, he/she can lodge a complaint with state level courts for a fair judgment.

In spite of such provisions provided by the government, it is a fact that most of the consumers in India even till date are unaware of their rights. Therefore the frauds and scams related to products and services are no ways stopping as just no one is bothered to take any action against frauds either fearing to the costs of courts or due to the unawareness about what they should do or can do to offend themselves in case of cheating from an organization for poor services or low quality products.

There are several consumer courts in India formed in various states and regions considering the interests of the consumers. These courts take actions against the fraudulent firms and organizations thereby ensuring that fair practices are adopted by the sellers or the service providers towards the consumers.

Moreover it is also very easy to file a complaint in consumer court. For filing a complaint in consumer court, he/she needs to file a petition initially. This petition is required to be filed in person or can also be done with the help of an authorized agent. However there is a fixed period of time (2 years from the date of the occurrence of the fraud) within which the individual requires filing his complaint or else he/she would not be possible to do it in further course of time. All facts and documents in support of the complaint need to be submitted.

One of the easiest ways for those looking to file a consumer complaint is to file it online at http://www.consumerdaddy.com. Consumer Daddy is a website meant for consumers. This is a professional, independent enterprise that takes steps to help increase consumer awareness and handles the matters related to consumer protection in a reliable way.
